Is there a free trial?
Yes — one week free on the Parents plan. You can cancel any time from the website before the trial ends and you won't be charged. Schools are welcome to book a walk-through before they sign up — just use the Talk to us button on the Schools plan.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from the website — no phone calls, no hard sell, no retention dance. One click and you're done.
Is VAT included?
No VAT is charged on either plan. The price you see is the price you pay.
What's actually different between the plans?
The teaching engine is identical — same adaptive practice, same word lists, same 16 Collectables. The Schools plan adds a central dashboard for managing classes and teachers, teacher-set lists (weekly, topic, spelling-rule), whole-school analytics, and bulk CSV import. If you're a family, the Parents plan is all you need.
Can I stop them playing all day?
Yes. On the Parents plan, set a daily cap for each child — 10, 20, 30 or 60 minutes, or no limit at all. Once the cap's reached, Spello won't let them start a new game until midnight, but any game already in progress finishes normally — so nobody gets yanked off mid-word.
What if I have more than four children?
The Parents plan covers up to four children on one account. If you need more — big family, foster placements, a homeschool co-op — and we'll sort something out.
How do we get the whole school set up?
Click Talk to us on the Schools plan. We'll get your admin account sorted, help you bulk-upload pupils from a CSV, and show staff round the dashboard. Most schools are running the next Monday.
